Each week on Home Made Simple, host Soleil Moon Frye and her team of “fixers”—interior designers, organizers and carpenters—meet a couple attempting to make over an office space, a bedroom, a kitchen, or even their lifestyle.

Experts such as Nicole Gibbons, Amy Devers, Jess Brune, Kenneth Wingard and Thad Mills are called in to work on projects such as turning reclaimed wood into rustic book holders; building an oversized whitewashed clock from scratch; a do-it-yourself bonsai tree; a calendar that brings the ombre trend to chalkboard paint and hand-stamped library markers.

This reporter chatted with interior designer Nicole Gibbons about her role and what she wants viewers to take away.

Why did you want to be a part of this show?

Through my role as a design expert and my blog, my mission is to inspire others to design a beautiful life and a beautiful living space that they'll love coming home to each day, and I think my philosophy matches up perfectly with both the Home Made Simple and OWN brands. Home Made Simple is all about finding ways to simplify and beautify your home and OWN is all about living your best life so doing this show was a no-brainer!

What will your role be on the show?

As a designer on the show, I'll be helping deserving families re-imagine their spaces and teach both the homeowners and viewing audience simple ways to achieve high style on an accessible budget. On each episode we generally focus on one area of a home and spaces I designed for the show range from living and dining rooms to and a home office as well as a kitchen.

What are you most excited for viewers to see?

We tackle a lot of fun DIY projects on the show that I hope viewers will have fun trying at home, and in general I hope that viewers take away some unique and simple ideas that will allow them to infuse some style into their own living spaces!

Home Made Simple will air on the OWN network on Saturday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
