In an effort to champion original design and young designers, Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) and K11 Art Mall will co-organize DESIGN MART 2012 @ K11. The October event, part of the 2012 Hong Kong Design Year series of events, will provide a platform for entrepreneurial designers to display and sell their unique design works and products to the public. DESIGN MART will be held at the K11 Art Mall in the commercial Tsim Sha Tsui area. This year, the design-oriented open market will span two consecutive weekends on October 13-14 and 20-21.

Hong Kong Design Centre’s collaboration with K11 Art Mall came about as both organizations share a similar vision to promote and nurture a new generation of creative talents and to bring art and creativity closer to the public. Hosted in a shopping mall for the first time, this year’s Design Mart will be targeted to the public, as part of K11 Design Month’s eclectic program to celebrate Hong Kong's emerging position as Asia’s design hub and creative capital. There will be events, exhibitions and workshops with top-of-the-line designers, artists and organizations.

Last year DESIGN MART attracted over 100 designers, 78 stalls and close to 5,000 attendees over a period of three days.  In addition to the open market, HKDC also offers a free “Designpreneurs Training Course” to the participating designers to hone their business skills and enhance their business operation knowledge. The deadline for application is today at 5:00 p.m.
