Guggenheim to host Asia Week NY next year

A top-tier roster of International Asian Art specialists, major auction houses, museums and Asian cultural institutions will come together for Asia Week New York, a series of events taking place throughout the metropolitan area starting March 15, 2013.

In the past, Asia Week New York has been held at the Morgan Library, the Rubin Museum, Asia Society, and other noteworthy destinations across the city. This year, Asian Week and the private opening reception will be held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

“The selection of these diverse cultural institutions reinforce just how important the Asian Art field has become to New York’s art scene,” said Henry Howard-Sneyd, Chairman of Asia Week New York, and Sotheby’s Vice-Chairman of Asian Art.

The weeklong celebration is filled with gallery open houses and Asian art auctions, as well as numerous museum exhibitions, lectures and special events.

“As we head into our fifth year, it is extremely gratifying to see how important Asia Week New York has become for so many international collectors, curators, scholars and Asian art enthusiasts,” said Howard-Sneyd.

Participants in the week come from England, France, Italy, Japan, Thailand and the United States, and will unveil an array of treasures, which they set aside to debut at Asia Week New York.

Noemie Bonnet

Noemie Bonnet has been named Executive Director of this year's Asia Week New York. She will oversee the strategies and operations behind the week and she will also execute the organization's plans for branding, communications, development, and events.

"I look forward to building and expanding upon the superior standards Asia Week New York has thus far established," said Bonnet. "It's very exciting for me to be part of such a high-profile group of Asian art specialists who are ready to take Asia Week New York to a new level."
