Minimal versus maximal design style will be the focus of the Pacific Design Center Fall Market on October 6. Two keynotes will bring this discussion to the forefront: “Creating the Perfect Balance: The Art of Mixing and Layering,” a discussion between Hearst Design Group editor-in-chief Newell Turner and AD100 designer and architect Jean-Louis Deniot, and “The Great Design Debate: Less Is More vs. More Is More,” moderated by Michael Wollaeger, with panelists including Justina Blakeney, Ryan Jackson, Ron Radziner and Ron Woodson.
“We occupy a moment in time where design choices and style options have never been more abundant, allowing a continuum of possibilities to define new creative standards,” said Jeff Sampson, Pacific Design Center vice president and director of marketing, in a statement. “PDC’s Fall Market narrows its lens, focusing on the bold, relevant aesthetics of minimalism and maximalism, exploring the opposite ends of the style axis, their concurrent popularity and the artful equilibrium that connects these two extremes.”
The one-day showcase will also feature 2,200 product lines, 100 new line introductions, open houses and showroom programs. Programming includes tours of new showrooms like the joint showroom by Holly Hunt and Phillip Jeffries; the debut of new designer collaborations; and expert panels on textiles, technology and licensing. Among the participating showrooms are Baker Furniture, Kravet, Donghia and Ralph Pucci.
