Kravet recently released a bold and bright collection of fabrics and trims designed and created by fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, and last night the creative icon was at the D&D Building in New York City to celebrate with hundreds of design enthusiasts and fans.

With a camera in hand, von Furstenberg took photos of her fabrics as well as the crowd that came out to see her. “I take it wherever I go,” she said. “I snap pictures of everything that inspires me.”

Notable attendees Newell Turner, Kate Kelly Smith and Orli Ben-Dor of the Hearst Design Group, Jim Druckman of the New York Design Center, and Marianne Howatson and DJ Carey of Cottages & Gardens all joined the Kravet team for the celebration.

The collection is comprised of prints, wovens, draperies and exotic trimmings that have a strong foundation in black and white with pops of color, and incorporates the iconic designer's signature bold animal prints, including “Spotted Cat” and “Funky Zebra.”

"I have always said, 'Design your life,' and we have created a collection that will allow you to do just that,” said von Furstenberg. “It is effortless, bold and so DVF."

Von Furstenberg spent the evening mingling with guests, taking photographs and signing copies of her book The Wrap. She also gave a brief presentation alongside the Kravet CEO Cary Kravet revealing that her favorite color in the collection is “Beet” and that “Cumulus” (which she incorporated into her office décor) and “China Vine” are some of her favorite patterns in the collection.

"Diane is an icon in the fashion industry," said Kravet creative director Scott Kravet, "Her bold and fearless style and use of color has translated beautifully with this collection of fabrics for the home."
