More than 200,000 visitors flocked to the 11th-annual Dutch Design Week last month throughout Eindhoven, Netherlands. Traditionally focused on innovation and experimentation, this year’s event worked with the striking European trends of co-creation and sustainability in design.

With 83 events and 1800 designers, here are some highlights from the week’s events:

The iconic Klokgebouw building, a disused factory building from the 1930s that has found a new lease of life as a cultural hotspot, was featured within a special 360-degree presentation space, 'Behind the Curtain,' in the heart of the show which housed some of the week’s 300 presentations, seminars and networking events. Events included: The World Design Forum, the ceremonies of the Dutch Design Awards, the presentation of the bid book 2018Eindhoven | Brabant and the "DDW Goes Digital".

The Golden Eye, the prize for the best Dutch design in 2012, was awarded to the Animation of Louis Vuitton I by Part of a Bigger Plan and Christian Borstlap. The jury chose from among a field of more than 650 participants.

The MINI Young Designer Award was won by designer Borre Akkersdijk, and the Piet Zwart Life Time Achievement Award went to Gerard Unger.

The winner of the DO | Material Price was Marjan van Aubel for The Energy Collection, who received a prize of €15,000. Second and third place went to Street Food Lighting and Kwiek. The three concepts that debuted at Dutch Design Week will be part of a special exhibition at the Design in Eindhoven.
