Deborah Buck, owner of Buck House, announced that she has expanded to larger quarters a few blocks north to 1318 Madison Avenue (between 93rd and 94th Streets) consolidating her antique shop with her appointment-only Gallery.

“This new location gives me the luxury to have everything under one roof, and it gives me the freedom to curate my tableaux and juxtapose them with series of exciting contemporary exhibitions. I have always enjoyed exhibiting fine art together with antiques- allowing them to inform one another,” said Buck.

Replete with Buck’s bold signature painted stripes in deep turquoise and burgundy, the 1,800 square foot space will continue to showcase a gamut of many different periods and origins – from antiquity to the 1990s. The shop features highbrow and lowbrow objects that appeal to her taste, which she defines as eclectic, strident, quirky, ever-changing, fluid, edgy and irreverent. Shoppers will find a range of high-end pieces by known artists and designers, as well as the irresistible funky and unknown, which has become her signature. "It’s not the period; it’s the piece in context with other pieces,” she said.

At the rear of the gallery, French doors swing onto a charming planted garden where Buck will be able to showcase outdoor sculpture and entertain clients. “The shop’s main window and entry way will be the stage on which I design and create environments,” said Buck, who recently published a coffee-table book of her work titled “Tableau.”

An artist in her own right, Buck thinks of herself as both educator and art dealer. “The Gallery at Buck House opened up a world of exhibitions, seminars, and book signings; and it also brought in a very different clientele. It has been wonderful to be embraced by this community and I wanted to make it a part of Buck House's everyday life.”
