D4D Spirit Awards celebrate sustainability efforts

The Designs for Dignity (D4D) board of directors and event committee will host the 2010 Spirit Awards honoring individuals and companies in residential and commercial interior design and architecture for their contributions to the organization’s environmental sustainability initiatives. The 2010 Spirit Awards is a celebration of the work of design industry partners in creating environments that reflect dignity, hope, and comfort for nonprofit program sites. The honorees for the 2010 Spirit Awards who will be recognized for their contributions in three categories include:

D4D Founder’s Award Honoree: International Interior Design Association (IIDA) recognized for its support of Designs for Dignity’s work within the non-profit community to implement new programs and projects to further the impact that good design can have on the community.

D4D Spirit Award Honoree: Beverly Hammel, Beverly Hammel Kitchen & Bath Award recognized as an outstanding volunteer of Designs for Dignity through her service on projects, and providing her expertise, services and significant philanthropic efforts on behalf of the organization.

D4D Sustainability Award Honoree: Coalesse recognized for addressing sustainability issues within its organization and the community.

The event takes place May 12 in the Chicago Cultural Center’s Preston Bradley Hall. Sponsors of the 2010 Spirit Awards include Premier Media Sponsor: CS Interiors; and major underwriting provided by: DuPont Corian, IIDA Illinois Chapter, The Kohler Store, Susan Fredman Design Group, VSA Partners, Caminiti & Associates, Inc, KRAVET, Oscar Isberian Rugs, The Tile Gallery and Wood- Mode. Proceeds from the Spirit Awards aid in the undertaking of several projects with area nonprofits.
