Atlanta's ADAC annouces programs for Design Defined

During the month of May, the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) presents Design Defined, a month-long series of events dedicated to interior design, fashion, culinary arts and entertaining. It kicks off on May 1 with a cocktail reception hosted by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazine and EditorTV.

Here's a sampling of what's to come.

Monday, May 1, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Grizzel & Mann, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazine, the Editor at Large and EditorTV celebrate the Southern debut of MK Collection, a fabric line by Georgia native Melissa Kirkpatrick. .

Tuesday, May 3, 12:30 p.m. VERANDA Decoration and Design Editor Leslie Newsom Rascoe explores the past and present worlds of Harlequin, Morris & Co., Sanderson and Zoffany at Grizzel& Mann.

Wednesday, May 2, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Renaissance Tile & Bath and Square One present Organic Style

Meet Jamie and View her Collection while Experiencing Signature Cocktails & Small Bites inspired by the natural beauty of wood. Please RSVP to mmurphy-perez@rentile.com at Renaissance Tile & Bath, Suite C3B.

With her signature ‘flair for living,’ Charlotte Moss will share her wit and wisdom on how to live passionately, decorate luxuriously and entertain beautifully.

Thursday, May 3, 10:00 a.m. VERANDA presents a panel discussion “The Art of Gracious Living” with panelist Susan Gutfreund, Kirsten Fitzgibbons, Kelli Ford, and Danielle Rollins moderated by Dara Caponigro.

Friday, May 4, 10:00 a.m. The Editor at Large presents “Outside the Box,” an informative discussion on how designers and design businesses are thinking creatively or ‘outside the box’ with Campion Platt, Suzanne Kasler, David Scott and Stephen Gambrel, moderated by Susanna Salk

Friday, May 4, 11:00 a.m. “Starting from the End” is a look at Stan Topol’s unconventional process for achieving a classically stunning room.

Tuesday, May 8, 1:00 p.m. Jennifer Boles will take a lively look at the most beloved design, gardening, cooking and lifestyle books from both the past and present.

Tuesday, May 8, 10:00 a.m. Deborah Sanders and Justin Van Breda will discuss how Justin gained global success as well as product development. Followed by a reception catered by 10 Degrees South at Smith Grubbs & Associates.

Wednesday, May 9, 1:00 p.m. As an admirer of beauty, Magot Shaw will draw parallels between flowers and interiors using her keen awareness of what is on the horizon for both.

Wednesday, May 9, 10:00 a.m. In this program, Decorative Furnishings Association Executive Director Steve Nobel brings his keen perspective on the luxury market into focus for designers who aim to make their clients happy before, during, and after each project.

Tuesday, May 15, 1:00 p.m. Learn the most basic to the advanced in this hour long interactive social media tutorial while having all your questions answered by expert Kimberly Ward.

May 16, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Jerry Pair and Apple present “The World of iPad” at Jerry Pair.

Wednesday, May 16, 10:00 a.m. ADAC Rising Star Winner Amy Morris will demonstrate how she layers color, texture and scale to create the perfect transitional room.

Wednesday, May 16, 3:00 p.m. Members of the Design Collective will discuss the procurement side of the design process while highlighting the benefits in utilizing a trade professional and their resources.

Thursday, June 14, 6:00 p.m. Join ASID Emerging Professionals for a day filled of informative seminars and discussions on starting out as a new designer.

Wednesday, July 18, 10:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m. ADAC in Bloom co-sponsored by Flower Magazine. Details coming soon.
