This September, the ASID set out to give the “emerging professionals” in the design industry a helpful boost. Defined as designers who have graduated from college within the last five years, these emerging professionals benefit from a month-long event that is all about them.

In a nutshell, the Emerging Professional Takeover Month is four packed weeks of online and live events focused on career development, education and mentoring, as well as weekly interviews with ASID Fellows, educational webinars, and daily tips and advice for embarking on a successful career in interior design.

So how did EP month get started?

According to Tiffany Neumann, Manager of EP Month for ASID, the success of last year’s first GO PRO: NYC, inspired them to reach out to more emerging professionals in more areas, and take things to the next level.

“In order to reach ALL emerging professionals, ASID needed to host a digital experience that stretched over a longer period of time to accommodate everyone’s schedules,” said Neumann. “Through ASID EP Takeover Month, we hope to raise awareness of the emerging professional career stage in the design industry."

Sarah Harajli, Allied ASID, was chosen as the featured emerging professional this September. Her advice to others is, “To be yourself, there is nothing more important than being who you are, especially in design.”
