The fifth annual Amsterdam Light Festival is under way (running through January 22), and designers and creators are now being invited to submit their interpretations of the theme “Existential” for next year’s festival, which will take place November 30, 2017, to January 21, 2018.

The festival features artwork largely made for the festival. Its goal is “to stimulate the development of light art and light artists. The festival also aims to bring light art and light artist to a broader audience, by presenting light art in a relatively approachable setting in the public sphere.” In 2016, the festival saw applications from 500 artists hailing from 45 countries.
Applications close January 31, 2017.
