Fashion designer Alexander Wang has partnered with furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau for a limited-edition collection of lounge furniture, which consists of two beanbag-style seats and a trunk bar. Together they create an intimate “hang out” space, a concept that originates from Wang’s approach to luxury: a juxtaposition of casual comfort and refined elegance, according to Poltrona Frau.
“I always loved this idea of hanging out in a basement on beanbags,” Wang said. “But taking that youthfulness and re-contextualizing it into something very luxurious and aspirational.”

The lounge chairs reflect the style’s typically slouchy body while lending structure and a monolithic shape.
In keeping with Poltrona Frau’s and Wang’s appreciation of details, materials are key. For this Made-in-Italy furniture, Wang selected Poltrona Frau’s matte black leather and shearling for the chairs.
The portable trunk bar comes in matte black shagreen, complete with polished steel edging, custom hinge details and small recessed steel wheels for easy maneuverability. The interior is lined in black suede with polished steel edging. The shelves are designed to accommodate mini-bar glasses, bottles and cocktail accessories. It can be used as a side table, when closed, or remain open to allow a view inside the mini bar.

"The result of this capsule collection coherently represents the hallmarks of both parties,” said Piero Valentini, managing director for Poltrona Frau. “We worked with passion for over two years to develop this collection, and I believe the hard work is evident in the collection’s fine materials, part of Poltrona Frau’s DNA and innovative design.”
The collection will be available in the U.S. next month and will be on display at the Alexander Wang New York flagship and the Poltrona Frau New York showrooms. All orders will be filled through Poltrona Frau.
In April, the collection will be available in select Poltrona Frau showrooms worldwide and select Alexander Wang stores.
