The Northern California Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art will honor Alexa Hampton, president of Mark Hampton LLC, at its annual Designer Day Lunch & Lecture fundraiser in San Francisco, to be held on October 29. The event, which raises money for the organization’s educational programs and scholarship fund, is held in conjunction with the San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show.

Hampton, a member of ICAA’s national board of directors, says, “Being involved with the ICAA is a dream come true for me. As a lifelong student of architecture, I care about architectural form and function. As a decorator, I rely on and am inspired by sound architecture to successfully create spaces that are beautiful and meaningful for my clients. Classical architecture is the germ that flowers in all architectural forms that have followed it. Even the most cutting-edge, modernist creation has classicism in its DNA. That is why it is so vital to support the ICAA, in my opinion. Becoming fluent in the language of classical art and architecture cements a critical building block that must be laid in the foundation of one’s design education, before one can either adopt or discard its tenets afterwards. Maintaining the heritage and celebrating the contributions of classical design is essential for me.”
