With the aim of targeting the interior design sector this year, imm Cologne, set to open January 13, has developed new platforms to serve as a format for visionary furniture and interior design concepts.

In response to the growing trend in sales from the “whole picture" as opposed to staged products one-by-one, “holistic design schemes” will be more present than ever before.

More than 1,100 companies from 50 countries will present variations on furnishing styles, solutions for modernizing bathrooms, natural and highly functional flooring products, creative wall coverings and striking lighting scenarios.

Trends to watch this year include a strong demand for natural materials especially wood—oak and vividly grained varieties, supplemented by lightwoods such as ash or birch. Felt is also in great demand, and leather is enjoying growing popularity as well, and big uses of color are making a comeback.

The show has partnered with the Association of the Mattress Industry to expand the sleep segment, which will now be presented in two complete halls (9 and 5.2) accommodating more than 100 companies from 20 countries. Three experts will present information about neuromarketing in regards to sleep: Bert Martin Ohnemüller from the agency Neuromerchandising group, Thomas Witt from Thomas Witt Consulting and Dr. Kai Markus Müller from The Neuromarketings Labs. The three specialists will have their own stands in Hall 9.

The show takes place to the trade January 13 – 19 at the Koelnmesse GmbH in Cologne, Germany. The show will be open to the public Friday, January 17 and Sunday, January 19.
