The Rug Company hosted longtime collaborator Diane von Furstenberg and Cabana magazine founder and editorial director Martina Mondadori for What’s New, What’s Next 2022 at The New York Design Center. After touching upon all things iconic in pattern and design, the two friends delved deeper, discussing what it means to be in charge and how confidence stems directly from intention and owning your vulnerabilities. Both women emphasized the importance of cutting through all the noise and trends to build a brand based on authenticity.
More than 250 guests RSVP’d to the event. Notable attendees included Kimberly Denman, Beth Brenner, Katie Brockman and Suzanne Cooper, Miguel Fernandez of Basico Design, Nicole Rubens of NFR Consulting, Benjamin Reynaert, creative director, Interior Define, and contributing editor at Domino, Brett Williams, director, Young Huh, Erik Perez of Hello PR Group, Sarah Boyd, Ryan Hines, Carly Roberts, David Howell and Evelyn Mitchell of Charlotte Barnes Interior Design.
“Diane gathered the most incredible, powerful, interesting women, and she got onstage and she said, ‘These awards are for these women,’” said Mondadori.
“I might not have invented dynamite, but I invented a dress that made women feel like dynamite,” said von Furstenberg.
