On June 16, a picture-perfect Tuesday afternoon, Trip Haenisch and Daniel Rogers cohosted a magical evening at Galerie 658 to welcome Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca back to Los Angeles, gathering the city’s interior design community to celebrate the launch of the brand’s new velvet collection and a signing of Healdsburg-based founder Sandra Jordan’s book, Loving Alpaca.

For Jordan, every fabric begins as a memory. Born in Peru and brought up across the world, she founded her namesake house in 2006 to bring the fiber she calls “the gold of the Andes” to the design trade, and to honor the herdsmen who raise the alpaca and the artisans who weave the luxurious textiles and rugs. The Prima Alpaca Velvets collection marks the first time Jordan has worked outside Peru, bringing her Prima Alpaca yarns to a storied atelier in Italy that blended them with wool and silk into textiles of true depth and movement. The palette reads like a landscape at different hours, from the dawn light of Ivory to the twilight of Indigo.

Seeing the collection in person was the highlight of the afternoon. Among the guests were Heidi Bonesteel of Bonesteel Trout Hall, Jamie Bush, Tommy Clements, Waldo Fernandez, Oliver Furth, Jane Hallworth, Adam Hunter, Erin King, Joelle Kutner and Jesse Rudolph of Ome Dezin, Joe Lucas, Ruben Marquez, Alison Palevsky, Brigette Romanek, Maya Williams, and Sean Yashar of The Culture Creative. They ambled through Galerie 658, discovering the new velvets, then drifted out to the terrace, where a DJ, a raw bar and easy cocktails carried the day into an impeccable L.A. evening. It was a warm homecoming among dear friends, and a lovely start to summer.
