On Wednesday, October 26, Luxe Interiors + Design editor in chief Pamela Jaccarino and executive vice president and managing director of Luxe and chief sales officer of Sandow Design Group Kate Kelly Smith co-hosted the inaugural Living Well summit on the lush and serene grounds of the renowned Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood, California. The informative and inspirational gathering was the centerpiece event to kick off Luxe’s new pillar, Wellness by Design, which features wellness-focused print and digital content throughout November and December along with exclusive wellness programming, including Living Well presentations, on the Wellness by Design channel, launching November 14 on DesignTV by Sandow.
The invitation-only, day-long event brought together thought leaders from across the country, who were motivated and educated on issues of design that kept health and wellness in mind.
Speakers included Blair Costello, principal, director of interiors and healthy living at Vera Iconica Architecture; Max Lugavere, health and science podcaster, wellness journalist and New York Times best-selling author of Genius Foods, The Genius Life and Genius Kitchen; Sara C. Mednick, Ph.D., world-renowned sleep researcher and cognitive neuroscientist at University of California, Irvine, author of The Power of the Downstate and Take a Nap! Change Your Life; Jonsara Ruth, co-founder and design director at Parsons School of Design Healthy Materials Lab; innovative brand leader Edward Leaman and interior designer and TV personality Jeremiah Brent; and Caleb Anderson and DeAndre DeVane, co-founders of Well-Designed with lead facilitator Vallori Thomas.
The Living Well summit was presented by title sponsors Benjamin Moore, California Closets and Signature Kitchen Suite, as well as Crypton, Humanscale, Jeffrey Court, Kravet, Lutron, Material Bank and The Shade Store, plus local sponsors Armadillo, El Løvaas, Flexform, Klafs USA, Las Vegas Design Center and Terra Outdoor Living. Stage plantscaping and floral design was created by Jessica Viola of Viola Gardens of Los Angeles.
“Wellness in design has never been more important, and it represents so many ideas to so many different people,” said Jaccarino. “I’m incredibly proud of the engaging content we shared at our inaugural Living Well summit, as well as in our 14 November/December print editions and on our upcoming wellness channel on DesignTV. We are excited to lead the conversation around creating a happier, healthier and more regenerative world.”
“The Living Well summit’s focus on wellness, flexibility and sustainability through design aligns perfectly with our True to Food mission,” said Helen Cho, head of marketing for Signature Kitchen Suite. “We were thrilled to join forces with Luxe on this inaugural event and showcase how our line of high-performing appliances offers the perfect blend of innovation, precision and purposeful design for every kitchen and every appetite, along with the flexibility to prepare and enjoy food in the best way possible.”
“At California Closets, we believe in the core relationship between belonging and belongings,” said Emily Reaman, senior director of content, public relations and partnerships at California Closets. “Intentionally designed and personalized spaces deeply affect how we live and how we feel, and that’s why we were thrilled to be a proud partner with Luxe Interiors + Design for this inaugural Living Well summit.”
“Benjamin Moore celebrates wellness in design and believes in the critical importance of wellness in our industry—from how color and design choices can influence a space to the well-being of those who bring such environments to life—a sentiment shared by Luxe Interiors + Design,” said Lauren Corbin, senior manager of A&D, Benjamin Moore.
