Certain pieces from the world’s largest furniture retailer, IKEA, don't necessarily have to call to mind one's first apartment. Auction search engine Barnebys revealed that select vintage IKEA pieces are now fetching up to $65,000 on the auction block.

Many of the products that are now worth the most had a short life when they were originally introduced and were quickly discontinued, Pontus Silfverstolpe, co-founder of Barnebys, told HOUSE BEAUTIFUL UK. He also shared, “When a new generation becomes financially established and begins to trade at an auction, they usually start to buy what they saw around them when growing up.”
Teak bookshelf that sold for over $3,000
Many of the products that are now collecting top dollar were created by some of Denmark’s most notable designers. Architect Philip Arctander’s Clam chairs currently are the top-selling product, and Verner Panton and Karin Mobring’s products have also made a comeback.
