About our Company

Rug & Kilim is a family-owned New York atelier, renowned for their vast, well-curated inventory and strong archive of custom designs.

For over four decades, Rug & Kilim — led by Jahanshah Nazmiyal — has pioneered the design and development industry, innovating with an encyclopedia of textures, colors, pile heights, yarns, and natural fibers, culminating into a haute couture-inspired custom collection. Alongside his sons, Cyrus and Sina Nazmiyal, and their growing team of dedicated avant-garde creators, the trio has established an exciting and reliable resource for luxury handmade rugs, tapestries and textiles for designers, architects, hospitality professionals, high-end collectors, and all admirers of the craft who share their passion. The Nazmiyals' emphasis on loyalty, warm hospitality, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, growth, and reinvention has shaped the venerable house they proudly call home.

The Rug & Kilim archive spans from the 17th Century to contemporary designs benefitting from a rich collection of antique, vintage, and modern designs in Scandinavian, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Moroccan, and European rugs and Kilims. Their particular devotion to the study and curation of Kilim and flatweave rugs has led to the accumulation of both the largest and one of the most important collections in the world. Jahanshah’s particular passion for 18th-Century Aubusson rugs, Savonneries, Axminsters, Donegals, hooked rugs and tapestries has become a formidable representation of important artists and special workshops as well. Furthermore his study of 17th-Century Mughal floral motifs and Persian court weaving has enriched his range of classics and inspired new collections, such as our Block Print rugs.

All clients of Rug & Kilim are serviced directly by a dedicated teammate and specialist at the Long Island City showroom, with further access to the Art Department for bespoke projects in residential, commercial, boutique hospitality and beyond.
