Job Description

We are seeking a design-driven, highly experienced Senior Designer to join our growing studio on a part-time contract basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time contractor or an employee role. This position is ideal for a designer with strong design leadership and project management skills who can confidently lead projects from concept through execution. The ideal candidate brings 7-10 years of experience working on high-end residential and/or boutique commercial projects and is comfortable balancing creative visioning with rigorous project coordination and follow-through.

Job Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the creative direction of the Principal to lead interior design projects from concept through to execution, translating vision into beautifully resolved spaces
- Shape design narratives through mood, materiality, spatial planning, and FF&E selections
- Create and present compelling design presentations that clearly communicate ideas to clients and stakeholders
- Maintain design integrity across all phases, from documentation through installation
- Serve as a trusted design lead for clients, guiding decisions with confidence and clarity
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Director to refine and elevate design direction
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and vendors to ensure design intent is executed thoughtfully
- Oversee FF&E sourcing and procurement coordination with a strong design lens
- Mentor and guide project designers and collaborators, fostering design excellence across the studio
- Participate in site visits, client meetings, and installations to ensure quality, detail, and finish

SKILLS & QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Strong design leadership skills with the ability to set direction, make decisions, and guide projects from concept through completion
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp, with a solid understanding of technical documentation standards
- Comfortable working with studio and collaboration tools including Google Workspace, Canva, Studio Designer, Basecamp or other equivalent project management software
- Experience leveraging visualization and rendering tools, including AI-assisted platforms, to communicate design intent
- A strong design point of view, with a passion for materiality, storytelling, and thoughtful, timeless interiors
- San Francisco / Bay Area–based is a plus, though the role is fully remote with in-person and online meetings as needed
