Job Description

We are a high-end interior design & to the trade home furnishings showroom based in New York City. We are in search of a purchasing agent who also has showroom experience.

This person will be experienced handling a variety of tasks including purchasing, procurement, documentation, and coordination. They will be skilled in transferring and sharing information as they will act as a point-person of communication with vendors, contractors, and warehouses. PAs will meet once a week with the COO, coming prepared to the meeting with accurate and up-to-date reports to ensure everything is aligning with other aspects of the project. PAs will own their responsibilities and have a developing skillset to foresee possible mistakes and/or logistical snags. PA’s should have a positive, can-do attitude, and feel comfortable researching situations and providing ample information for others.

•Initiate and execute daily orders.
•Provide operational support to the designers
•Manage inventory for both showroom and offsite storage
•Ensure all orders are accurately entered, submitted to the appropriate vendor, and tracked until all items are received by the customer.•Create purchase orders for all products, as needed, and submit to the appropriate vendor.
•Ensure shipment details such as addresses, requested shipping speeds, sidemarks, and any other important details are accurate.•Coordinate with vendors and monitor open purchase orders for delays or other updates.
•Liaise with warehouse coordinator(s) and vendors to ensure accurate and efficient order fulfillment and maintain strong relationships.
•Communicate order fulfillment details, production lead time updates, & other information the showroom team may need to relay to customers.
•Keep track of orders not immediately fulfilled & keep relevant parties up to date on any production and/or shipping delays.
•Troubleshoot customer service issues when they arise and provide solutions for the sales team & customers.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Interior Design, or a related field.

Experience: 2+ years in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in interior design, furniture, or home décor industries.

Skills:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills as well as attention to detail
- Customer service experience – preferred.
- Familiarity with Design Manager, Shopify, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of interior design materials, furnishings, and industry trends.
