A selection of top new products were recognized by the Window Covering Manufacturers Association’s yearly awards earlier this month, with winning entries from companies including Comfortex Window Fashions, Coulisse, Eclipse Shutters, HT Window Fashions, Hunter Douglas, Maxxmar Window Fashions, MechoSystems, Mermet, Newell Rubbermaid, Norman Window Fashions, Orion Ornamental Iron, Phifer, Rowley, Safe-T-Shade, Springs Window Fashions and The Window Outfitters.

Engineering and design teams were awarded in the following categories: cellular shades; drapery hardware; three separate green product categories; horizontal blinds; motorization; Roman, roller and pleated shades; shadings and sheers; shutters; vertical blinds and panel tracks; wood and faux wood blinds; and specialty applications and miscellaneous products.

The winner of the WCMA Product of the Year award was Silhouette Duolite Shadings, designed and engineered by the Silhouette Product Development Team at Hunter Douglas.

This year’s contest judges included Susan Arann, interior design director and principal of American & International Designs, and Kimberly Scappaticci, design director at Wallauer’s Design Center, a chain of home decor stores in Westchester County, New York.

“The WCMA Product Awards panel is always challenged to review a wide array of new and enhanced products and programs,” said Ralph Vasami, executive director of WCMA. “This year’s large number of technological innovations and new styles made for a tough competition among the manufacturers and speaks volumes for the hard work and ingenuity of our industry’s engineering and design teams.”
