Now in its ninth year, the Design Museum residence program celebrates new and emerging designers, with recent alums like Asif Khan, Giles Miller, Bethan Laura Wood, Yuri Suzuki and Sarah van Gameren. This year’s crop of designers, which will respond to the new theme of “Open,” includes fashion and interdisciplinary designer Alix Bizet, architectural designer Clementine Blakemore, interdisciplinary designer Andrea de Chirico and architect Rain Wu.

The designers will work over the course of four months on a project related to the program’s theme, with access to the resources of the museum. Their work will be displayed in a dedicated Designers in Residence Studio at The Design Museum when it opens in its new home in London’s former Commonwealth Institute this November.

The Design Museum opened in 1989 and has since exhibited the work of the world’s top designers, among them Paul Smith, Zaha Hadid, Jonathan Ive, Miuccia Prada, Frank Gehry, Eileen Gray and Dieter Rams.
