Design company The Romo Group was honored with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2017 in a ceremony last week. The fourth-generation family-owned company was noted for its success in international trade, specifically through its design and marketing of luxury accessories, wallcoverings and fabrics. It received the same award in 2008.
“It’s a fantastic honor and a great privilege to win this award, which is the feather in the cap for our staff, who can take great pride and involvement from this,” says Romo Group CEO Jonathan Mould.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise recognize business performance and outstanding achievement by UK companies across three categories: International Trade, Innovation, and Sustainable Development. Queen Elizabeth, with the advice of the prime minister and an advisory committee, selects award recipients each year.
Since winning the International Trade award category in 2008, The Romo Group has launched three brands, each one targeting high-end interior designers and clients: Zinc Textile and Mark Alexander in 2010 and Black Edition in 2013. The U.S. is the London-based company’s largest foreign market, with showrooms in New York, Palm Beach, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and, soon, Atlanta.
