Interior Design magazine’s 2016 Best of Year Awards will feature 15 new categories, including seven in the Projects category and eight in the Products category. The new Products awards are a result of the publication’s partnership with Material ConneXion, the world’s largest materials library.

“I am proud that Best of Year has become the ultimate measure of what’s happening in design each year, while setting the bar even higher for the future. The product and project designers produce amazing work for others and we want to honor them in return. Their work truly deserves the award,” says Cindy Allen, editor in chief of Interior Design.

The new project categories include Art Installation; Branding and Graphic Design; Museum/Art Gallery; Restoration/Renovation; Transportation; On the Boards: Commercial; and On the Boards: Residential.

The awards program, now in its 11th year, includes 63 product categories and 48 project categories, which, says Interior Design, make up a “carefully curated list built from the core sectors, industry favorites and what’s happening right now in design. The growth in categories each year reflects the evolution and expansion of the design industry.”

The submissions deadline is September 9 and the winner will be announced on December 1 at an awards ceremony at the IAC building in New York.
