FX Interior Design Award winners announced

Presented by FX magazine, the British magazine for contract interior design, the Awards recognized design achievement in a November 25 celebration that also honored London as one of the world’s top cities for architecture and design. 

British and international designers and projects were recognized across 21 categories, including Interior Design Practice of the Year, Public Space Schemes, Lighting Product, Drawing, Surfaces, Museum or Exhibition Space, Breakthrough Talent of the Year and Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Design. The panel of judges included design leaders Megan Ashfield, James Dilley, Annabelle Filer, Catherine Barber, Mark Doohan, Francesca Gernone and others.

London was the only city to earn eight awards:

Public Sector: Rock Townsend
Mixed Use Development: The Manser Practice Architects + Designers
Surfaces: Desso
Workspace Environment:  Paul Crofts Studio
Lighting Design: BDP
Interior Design Practice of the Year: Universal Design Studio
Breakthrough Talent of the Year: Giles Miller
Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Design: Mark Major
 

The UK Project of 2015 award went to Regatta HQ by SpaceInvader (interior design) and Fletcher Rae (architect). In all, the U.K. won 10 awards. China was the closest competitor, earning four awards.

FX editor Theresa Dowling said, “We now have a truly international status, with global submissions comprising 50 percent of our entries. By winning tonight, it proves they really are the best in the world.”
