The doors of 15 gorgeous modern homes in Los Angeles, handpicked by the editors of Dwell magazine, will open to welcome visitors on May 23, 30 and 31. The self-guided tours, organized by Dwell, will acquaint visitors with an array of award-winning homes designed by some of Southern California's top designers and architects, among them: Nerin Kadribegovic, AIA, Neil Denari, AIA, Renzo Zecchetto, AIA, Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir, Tryggvi Thorsteinsson, Robert Sweet and Dean Nota, FAIA.

Tour ticketholders are also invited to attend "Meet the Architects Night," held on Thursday, May 21 (7 to 9 p.m. at the Ace Hotel) and Thursday, May 28 (7 to 9:30 p.m. at Millwick), where they can learn about the homes straight from the designers and architects who created them.

Some of the highlights include the Berman Residence, by AIA Architect Renzo Zecchetto, a 4,660-square-foot house in Venice outfitted with sliding mahogany screens and glass doors that filter in sunlight and air; the Brentwood Residence by architect Cory Buckner, a reimagined house that had remained untouched since the late 1950s and now boasts flat and butterfly roofs and huge windows offering sweeping views; the Yu Residence by FAIA architect Dean Nota, which perfectly balances privacy and coastal panoramas, and the #9 Dream House by AIA Architect Dan Brunn, a bungalow with an enviable kitchen bedecked with white cabinets custom-made from back-painted starfire glass adhered to baked-on lacquered fiberboard panels.

The tours kick off the beginning of Dwell on Design Week's program, which also includes Dwell on Design Los Angeles, returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center May 29 to 31 for its tenth year, with three days of onstage programs from more than 250 leaders in design, 2,000 modern furnishings and products from 400-plus exhibitors, as well as a range of continuing education opportunities.
