The largest-ever roster of designers and celebrities will come together for Housing Works’ 10th annual interior design shopping benefit, Design on a Dime, next Thursday, April 24. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea, the Housing Works fundraising event will feature more than 60 vignettes festooned with decorative art and objects for sale at 50-70% off retail by designers such as Miles Redd, Sara Gilbane, Sam Allen, Eric Cohler and Harry Heissmann.

Actress and longtime AIDS advocate Rosario Dawson will serve as Honorary Chair for the benefit. ELLE DECOR Editor-in-Chief, Michael Boodro will co-chair the event along with George Oliphant of NBC’s George to the Rescue, Sabrina Soto of HGTV’s High Low Project and VP of Fashion Direction for Men’s, Young World and Home for Bloomingdale’s, Kevin Harter. Founding Chair James Huniford will also design a room for the 10th consecutive year.

“It’s truly amazing how much Housing Works has been able to accomplish with the help of the New York Design community in the ten years of this very special benefit,” said Boodro. “These 60 rooms may only be up for three days, but the money raised can build a home for someone in need that will last a lifetime.”

Interior designers Nicole Gibbons, Patrick Hamilton, Jennifer Beek and Georgie Hambright have given Editor at Large a sneak peek of what will be on sale in their rooms.

Gibbons is teaming up with Ethan Allen for this year's Design on a Dime and they donated $25,000 worth of furniture for her vignette. Highlights in Gibbon’s display include a Heron round coffee table and a Monterrey slip-covered sofa.

“My theme is Chic in Pink and will feature a bold pink Valspar color on the walls called Sweet Sixteen, somewhat inspired by the French style icon Ines de la Fressange,” she said.

Hamilton used art as a jumping off point. “As I often do when there’s no client to set me off on a design plan, I started with art—more specifically, ‘Lord Rick,’ a drawing by Dan Romer,” he said. “Designer Barry Dixon graciously said yes to donating his gold Spore Mirror from Arteriors, and something about those two pieces seemed perfect together: luxe, spiky and decadent. To some of the additional pieces I’ve snared, there’s also an 80’s glam quality, and a lot of glittering metals—gold, silver, white gold and champagne upholstery. So, it’s Midas meets Maleficent, Game of Thrones meets Drag Race, I get to create a room that’s part fable and pure fantasy, and Housing Works is the beneficiary. What’s not to love?”

Highlights in Hamilton’s display include a 100% silk rug (which Hamilton noted that someone will get for a huge steal) and a River Stone table from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

Beek and Hambright are all about color blocking for Design on a Dime 2014. “We are doing it in neutrals and pastels for spring,” they said. The pair’s wallpaper selection will reflect the neutral and pastel palette and the room will also feature a white Charlton sconce.

The rooms are to be exclusively unveiled at a ticketed VIP Opening Night Reception and will continue as a free public sale on April 25 and 26.

Housing Works is a non-profit with a mission to end AIDS and homelessness. Design on a Dime 2014 will benefit Housing Works’ Hull Street Residence: A new housing development project consisting of 30 permanent units for single, formerly homeless adults living with the disease. Last year’s benefit raised a record-breaking $1.1 million dollars and the benefit has raised $7 million since inception.
