David Easton, principal of David Easton Inc., is scaling down his New York office and moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, next year, where he and longtime partner and husband James Steinmeyer will run a small decorating office, Easton-Steinmeyer and Associates. Easton began his studio in 1972, with Steinmeyer working at his side for the last 35 years. He has been named as an AD100 a record number of times, and two years ago, received the Legends award from Pratt Institute.

“I have arrived at a point in my life where I want to work less, travel more, and read all the books I haven’t been able to get to,” says Easton. “My father always said, ‘It is as important to know when to get offstage as it is to know when to get onstage.’ I have many passions, and while design and architecture will continue to be my number one passion, I look forward to indulging in a few others.”

Known for launching the careers of many designers, Easton shares, “I have great appreciation for every employee that has ever walked through the door. I have learnt as much as I have taught. My present team has devoted many years of their lives to this office, and I have tremendous gratitude for their dedication and loyalty.”

A smaller office will remain in New York, operating as Easton Steinmeyer & Associates.
