imm cologne, an annual interior design fair in Cologne, Germany January 16-26, 2012, will be presenting a new exhibition, LivingInteriors, every other year in rotation with LivingKitchen.

The premiere event will be staging an extremely diverse mix of interior design worlds from the bathroom, flooring, walls and lighting segments. The exhibitors include A.S. Creation, Bauwerk Parkett, CAPEROL Farben Lacke Bautenschutz, Carpet Creations, Cotto d’Este, The German Wallpaper Institute, Dornbracht, Effegibi, Efia, Geberit, Gira Giersiepen, Habermann Living, Kadeco, Kährs Parkett, Manx Tech di Dalla, mhochdrei Interior Concepts, Otto Golze, Revox, Ruby Decor, Sitap, Spartherm Feuerungstechnik, Specula Design, Weseler Teppich, Windmöller Flooring and Zollanvari.

"Today there is a lot more to a well-designed room than choosing an upholstery fabric or the colour of the furniture. Complete concepts are in demand. The doors can be just as much part of the overall design as matching floors, wall coverings and lighting scenarios," said a Koelnmesse representative.

The Living Rooms on exhibit were conceived and staged by G + J Events, Hamburg, and invite visitors to step inside four themed interior worlds. Each room will be implemented in such a way that it reflects poetic echoes of an overriding topic. These basic themes will include “The Orient Lover” or “The Classics Enthusiast”. The emotional interior design proposals are intended to appeal to all the senses.

Event program rounds off experience factor with impressive agenda The interior worlds will be accompanied by an on-stage program including presentations and lectures by Nik Schweiger, biorhythm Design Studio; Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk and Peter Joehnk, managing directors of JOI-Design Innenarchitekten; Thomas Notholt, managing director of notholt lighting design; Margit Vollmert, head of the FarbDesignStudio of CAPEROL Farben Lacke Bautenschutz; Kim Marc Bobsin, sbp - Seel Bobsin Partner Design-Konzeptionen; Markus Helle, HIGHLIGHT Verlagsgesellschaft and Sabine von Keggenhoff of Keggenhoff I Partner. The presentations by application engineer Lothar Steinbrecher (“Tile wallpaper – the new generation of wallpapers – tips and tricks”) or designer Andrea El Shami (“Decorating with wallpaper”) promise to be particular highlights.

On January 21 and 22 the talks will focus on redesigning a home. Interior architecture network innenarchitekten20 will be answering visitors’ questions in a “speed dating” set-up based on the principle: five interior architects, five visitors, five minutes.

Mark Kühler, Germany’s DIY king and presenter of TV series “Wohnen nach Wunsch - Das Haus” said, “Colours and textures inspire me, but it’s the combination of all the different elements that really brings the room to life. That’s why LivingInteriors is the perfect platform for experiencing the interaction between all the different dimensions of interior design.” At the weekend, consumers can look forward to some hands-on advice when the presenter, assisted by e.g. the German Wallpaper Institute, demonstrates various tips and tricks for hanging wallpaper.
