Lydia Marks and Lisa Frantz

To kick off market at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, Edward Ferell + Lewis Mittman (EF+LM) (Suite 903) will present “Found in Translation: Design Hunting through Fashion, Film and History” with Goodman and designers Lydia Marks and Lisa Frantz of Marks & Frantz. Attendees will have the chance to preview the newly renovated and expanded EF+LM showroom, where new furniture designs by Marks & Frantz will be debuted. The design duo, which is known for creating television and movie sets for shows like Sex and the City, will discuss how working in the television industry influences their style and interiors. RSVP is required for this event.

Sandra Nunnerly

The second keynote of the day at Lorin Marsh (Suite 720) will feature interior designer and author Sandra Nunnerly, Sotheby’s Vice Chairman Josh Holdeman, and Andrea Crane, a leading modern and contemporary dealer. The trio will share their thoughts on the art market—what’s trending, how to purchase furnishings as investment-quality art and how the roles of designers are changing in today’s market. Moderated by editor and writer Suzanne Slesin, the panel begins at 12:00 p.m. RSVP is required for this event.

Michael Boodro

The final keynote of the day at 4:00 p.m. will celebrate ELLE DÉCOR’s 25th anniversary. Boodro will present an overview of some of the best interiors from the magazine’s history, and will discuss design trends for the future in the David Sutherland showroom. A book signing of Boodro’s new book, The Height of Style will follow. RSVP is required for this event.

Throughout the day, designers will also be able to learn about the latest design apps at Crestron (Suite 407), celebrate Traditional Home’s 25th anniversary at Kravet (Suite 324), sit in on a “fireside chat” at Chesney’s (Suite 1119) with Williams and Hampton, and finish off the day with cocktail parties at Christopher Peacock (Annex, Fifth Floor) and John Rosselli & Associates (Suite 1800).

Peter Sallick

The next day, Market is equally packed. At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, Waterworks will debut its brand-new kitchen showroom (Suite 134) as CEO Peter Sallick invites John DeLucie, chef proprietor of Crown, Bill’s and The Lion designer Steven Sclaroff and co-founder and CEO of cooking and home destination Food52, Amanda Hesser for a discussion on the evolution of the kitchen. RSVP is required for this event.

Julia Buckingham

At noon, the new Biasi Catani showroom (Suite 813) will present ”From Runway to Residence: The Intersection of Fashion and Interior Design.” Buckingham, fashion designer Ralph Rucci, and VP of Education at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Barbara Bundy will chat about the intersection of fashion and interior design, spearheaded by Home Editor at Vogue, Mieke tenHave. RSVP is required for this event.

Karim Rashid

The final keynote of Market will be at the new Vondom showroom (Suite 1532), featuring Rashid in conversation with Museum of Arts and Design’s Curator Ronald T. Labaco. The pair will discuss the concept of “rigorous beautification” that lies at the heart of Rashid’s practice, the experience of working with long term clients and how companies’ expectations and understanding of design have evolved over the years. RSVP is required for this event.

Throughout the second day of Market, designers are invited to view Donghia’s new fall collections (Suite 700), learn about the influence of technology on the design world at Classic Rug Collection (Suite 1805), and finish off the day at Houles (Suite 919) for a benefit and auction for Alpha Workshops.
