Residential-architecture firms are on the shortlist for this year’s Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Awards. With Jury Chair David Karotkin at the helm, the jury selected 73 entries, a total of 59 projects across 14 categories, to move along to the final phase. The shortlisted entries were chosen from 185 eligible nominees, who had won the Regional and Chapter Architecture Awards. This year’s winners will be announced on November 5.

“Reviewing 185 award-winning entries was daunting for the jury. We reluctantly narrowed the field to a shortlist of 73, aware of the tension that comes from a process where we have the responsibility of choosing the best from a field of the best,” said Karotkin. “The diversity and quality of this year’s award-winning projects from around the country proves yet again what a profound contribution architects are making in our society.”
