As AI reshapes the way we work, interior designers face growing pressure to understand what these tools are—and what they can and cannot do. If the mere thought of AI raises your cortisol levels and conjures up images from Blade Runner, you’re not alone. But while the technology can feel overwhelming, it can also be incredibly useful—a practical support for everything from research and planning to concept development, visualization, documentation, marketing, and administrative tasks. Used strategically, these services free up more time for you to focus on what you actually want to do: design.

Led by strategic designer and digital innovation consultant Alexandra Ballensweig, this workshop cuts through the hype to focus on how AI can benefit your interior design business. She’ll explore what’s realistically possible with AI through contextual examples and live demonstrations of accessible tools in action, as well as honestly address the technology’s current limitations. The session will also cover how to communicate more effectively with AI to increase engagement, and conclude with an open Q&A session.

In this class, attendees will learn how to:
- Experiment with AI tools, gaining an understanding of what they can offer, as well as their limitations
- Pick up at least one new AI tool to implement into your workflow
- Talk to AI to get the results you want with the tools you use

After this class, attendees will have:
- The clarity and confidence to experiment thoughtfully with AI
- Knowledge to implement at least one new tool into your workflow
- An understanding of how to use AI to reclaim time for the aspects of design that require human judgment and creativity

Additional Information:
This workshop is conducted through Zoom webinar. All you need to join is reliable internet access and computer speakers with good volume.

Alexandra Ballensweig is a strategic designer, digital innovation consultant, and current consumer and product insights lead at Quince. Trained as an industrial designer, she’s spent the past 13 years working at the intersection of design, technology and human experience—first at BCG Digital Ventures, then as the founder of a venture-backed consumer startup, and now within a fast-growing consumer brand. Across all of it, she’s been close to the real work: implementing decisions with incomplete information, protecting creative judgment, and building systems that scale without flattening what makes a well-designed experience feel thoughtful and alive. She believes creativity is central to our humanity—and that it requires space, nourishment and protection.
