Thibaut and Santa Barbara Designs debut umbrella collaboration at Modernism Week
During Modernism Week’s opening weekend, Thibaut and Santa Barbara Designs co-hosted a Sunday Social brunch, complete with delicate tea sandwiches and bubbly mimosas, to showcase their new collaboration. Forged in “outdoor heaven,” this partnership pairs over 20 Thibaut indoor/outdoor print fabrics with Santa Barbara Designs’ handcrafted Riviera Oak frame umbrellas.
The collaboration came to life at the home of designer Michael Norpell, who offered guests an intimate tour of his residence—an official Modernism Week program location. Notable attendees included designers Michelle Boudreau, Christopher Kennedy, and Lee Bottorff and Michael Walters of Dakota Design Works, among 45 other area designers.
“We were delighted to host guests at a designer home in Palm Springs’ iconic Deepwell Estates,” said Alexandra O’Hare, chief marketing officer at Thibaut. “The setting provided a beautiful backdrop to debut our umbrella collaboration with Santa Barbara Designs to the California design community.”
Santa Barbara Designs co-owner James Sheftel added: “We handcraft our signature umbrellas in Southern California and have for over 40 years. Adding Thibaut linings to our Riviera umbrellas provides literally another layer of design interest. Designers can create something unique for each client and can order Thibaut fabric yardage for coordinating cushions and pillows.”
