On September 18, during the New York Design Center’s What’s New, What’s Next event, Leaders of Design invited attendees to pack their proverbial bags and discover a different way of finding new ideas. Moderated by Business of Home editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen, “Passport to Inspiration: A Conversation on Travel and Design” featured LDC members John Cialone of Tom Stringer Design Patners, Kristen Rivoli of Kristen Rivoli Interior Design, Greg Tankersley of McAlpine, and Victoria Sass of Prospect Refuge Studio, who each spoke about how travel fuels creativity, shifts outlooks and influences the way we style interiors.
More than 60 guests attended the cosmopolitan chat in the Brown Jordan showroom on the building’s third floor. After the panel, they enjoyed light bites and cocktails.
“In recent years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel with these wonderful panelists as part of the annual Leaders of Design conference, which combines breathtaking access to surprising destinations with friendship, industry connections and community,” said Petersen. “There is nothing quite like discovering something new alongside a group of designers and architects at the top of their game, and it’s been captivating to see how these shared moments shape their perspectives once they return home. In this conversation, we were able to explore just that: how they’ve translated these extraordinary experiences in their work and their businesses.”
