Tell us about Harlequin’s Performance portfolio.
Harlequin’s portfolio is an eclectic mix of patterns and textures. We use the highest-quality fabrics and papers to achieve truly expressive results in our designs. It starts at the design studio drawing board, and the commitment to excellence continues right through to inks used, colors mixed and yarns selected.

The impressive fabrics that make up our performance library elevate our entire portfolio. Designed and crafted for the ultimate in durability and contemporary luxury, each new textile has been carefully considered for interior schemes, pushing the boundaries of performance while striking a balance with aesthetics for expressive results. Bespoke color combinations also come to the fore in these ranges, the design studio considering every iteration and tonal blend for specifications. We defy designers not to find the right drape quality and color for their scheme.

What about the collection feels fresh and exciting? What’s innovative about the materiality?
I think it’s the multitude of applications. Allegra and Mineral are dual-purpose performance fabrics, so in terms of usability, they can work beautifully across an entire concept. Our boucle fabric boasts exceptional performance and a luxurious, sumptuous nature inherent in its very composition. Water-repellent and stain-resistant, it’s a hard-wearing product with an elegant textural hand.

What piece are you most excited to unveil?
Every new performance product is super exciting, as it extends the opportunities with which designers can create schemes. We’ve developed a quality that we hope they will come back to time and time again. Allegra and Mineral, two of our most recent performance plains, come in an astounding range of colors and boast our Carbon Zero treatment, as well as a water-repellent and stain-resistant finish. What we’ve created with each collection in our performance portfolio is a multitude of colors and tones available in each cloth for layering with ease. Mineral is a particular favorite: Beautiful and durable, it’s the epitome of adaptability, functionality and truly exceptional design. We plan to add even more colors in the future!

How do you feel this collection pushes the brand forward?
Our performance products demonstrate our dedication to the design industry, to our Harlequin fans who seek to express themselves at home, and to producing products that are more consciously made, with a specific focus on the treatments we apply—our Carbon Zero finish, for example—that aid in function but have a lower impact on our planet. All our performance products also prioritize usability, and the palettes we develop across each range really consider application. They’re timeless yet super contemporary, which elevates Harlequin’s offering.

Can the collection be customized? What options are possible?
With the spectrum of colorways on offer, it really feels like a tailored collection. Additional colors in Mineral will allow for even more opportunities in the near future. We’re confident that designers will find a colorway and quality to suit their specific needs. 

How do you envision designers using this collection?
Layered in schemes that require high-durability fabrics that won’t compromise the overall aesthetic. The curated palettes across each of these collections mean the scope for application is vast.
