Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of interior designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. They provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry. Lisa Robinson, an interior designer based in Dallas, Texas, founded the non-profit by tying together her desire to give back to her community and her passion for design. Her belief that good design improves ones quality of life resulted in the incorporation of this non-profit foundation in April of 2009. Dwell team member Kim Turner shares the belief that lives can truly be inspired by design and that “dwelling with dignity” is something that can be possible for all.

Dwell with Dignity teamed with local business leaders in the design industry Beth Arrowood of Niba Rugs and Charlotte Dunagan of Atmosphere Creations, who reached out to CARRFOUR, a local nonprofit organization founded in 1993 by the Homeless Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to provide permanent housing and supportive services to maximize the self-sufficiency of the formerly homeless in Miami-Dade County to help identify a family transitioning out of homelessness.

With a family in place the mission was clear. Companies donating include: Suarez Design, Miyo Home, Monica James & Co., C Bell, Neoteric Luxury, Serena & Lily, Vitali Inc., Citiscapes Inc., Back Office Staff, Peacock Alley, Advance Home Theater & Rebecca Hidalgo along with a number of items donated from Atmosphere Creations and a very special Niba Rug. The team worked closely with the family in question to determine specific needs, color schemes and what elements individualize a home of harmony for them, for an installation that started earlier this month.
