To coincide with both the ICFF and Meat Packing District Design Week in New York in May, Vitra and Création Baumann join forces to present three events to showcase their newest designs. The collaboration draws on the companies' Swiss origins and the design aesthetic of clarity of composition, functionality and clean, structured lines. Jo Kaiser, Vitra's USA Managing Director said, "We have seen from past partnerships that combining our design philosophies creates truly inspiring environments. We hope during the events this weekend that we will be able to share this excitement not only with our loyal A&D community but also our end-users, clients and design fans in and around New York." A VIP party will kick off the weekend’s festivities on May 14, where attendees will include leading interior designers, architects, members of the press, design industry executives and trend setters. Student Education Day will follow on May 15 to present design students with information about innovative designs in furniture and textiles. Création Baumann Vice President of Sales, Dominik Roelli and USA Managing Director, Ranae Ahrens will be on hand all day to speak to the students. From 3:00pm to 4:30pm Eckart Maise, Vitra Head of Product Development will also be available to answer questions and give a look at the design process behind the final product. A closing party will take place on the evening of May 16th and will include ICFF attendees, interior designers, architects, style makers and members of the press. Covering three floors, the special events installations will include Vitra’s presentation of the Verner Panton exhibition, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Panton Chair. The Place Sofa II by Jasper Morrison, the updated version of last year’s introduction of the original Place Sofa, will be shown for the first time in the US market after recently being introduced at Salone di Mobile in Milan. In a bistro area the minimalistic style of the new Bistro Table by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec will feature prominently. On the lower level in a salute to artists and creative people, a combination living/working space will be shown. Création Baumann will fashion a textile installation by hanging 35-foot panels of fabrics from the ceiling, running down three floors. This installation will showcase “Energy” new for fall 2010. The fabric utilizes laser cuts to make a 3D sculptural effect. Création Baumann Vice President of Sales and Marketing Dominik Roelli states, “In partnering with Vitra on these events we emphasize the numerous synergies shared by both companies in residential and contract interior design. We are excited to present ideas together to all who attend. In addition, the collaboration will strengthen the brands for a stronger impact towards the market.”
