Last night marked the one-year anniversary of NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens), and the unveiling of the first 'Rising Star' of 2013, Alexandra Pappas and Tatyana Miron of Pappas + Miron, at the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams' Manhattan showroom.

"The Rising Star page is our opportunity as magazine editors and design enthusiasts to showcase the talents of designers readers may not yet be familiar with," said NYC&G Editor in Chief Kendell Cronstrom. "Like many industries, the interior design business is difficult to break into, and we consider it our duty to give up-and-coming design talents the attention they deserve. The only qualification is a great, fresh design sensibility."

"Tatyana and I are thrilled to be recognized by NYC&G," said Pappas."It's wonderful to know that Kendell and the editorial team at the magazine see our firm's aesthetic as unique and one to watch! It's always great to be appreciated for your work particularly when there are so many talented designers in NYC."

For Marianne Howatson, CEO and Publication Director of Cottages & Gardens Publications, the highlight of the year has been how well NYC&G has been received by the design industry. "We have really covered the greater New York region in ways that no other shelter magazine has," she said. "We've had tremendous response from the design industry and our decorating-obsessed readers. To keep up with the demand, we have added another issue to our schedule for 2013, bringing the total to six, and we are increasing our distribution by 25%."

In the last year, the magazine has featured many New York icons' homes including style arbiter Marian McEvoy's Hudson River overlook; Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams's Manhattan aerie; interior designer Darren Henault's Millbrook farm; and entertaining guru Ina Garten's Hamptons home.

Howatson says readers may expect even more great design projects in the New York region, plus NYC&G's exclusive media sponsorship of the New York Junior League Spring House Tour as well as a Westchester Show House.
