During its quarterly meeting last month, High Point Market Authority named incoming board members, including new chairman Jeff Scheffer, president and CEO of Universal Furniture

Outgoing board chairman Doug Bassett, president of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture, turned over the reins to Scheffer, and will continue on the board as the Immediate Past Chairman, Government Liaison Chairman and a non-voting member of both the executive committee and board.

“I’m fortunate to follow in the footsteps of Doug Bassett, who’s done an outstanding job as board chair,” says Scheffer. “His leadership, along with the work and guidance of our outgoing board members, makes us well positioned to move the Market forward.”

Scott Knox, president of Priba Furniture, and Bill Wittenberg, president of Klaussner Home Furnishings, were both named as new members, while outgoing members Abe Elmore, founder of Elmore Furniture, and John Gunter, president and CEO of Home Comfort Furniture & Mattress Center, were thanked for their service.

“I’m excited to welcome our new board members and look forward to working together to not only attract exhibitors and buyers from all over the world, but to also keep them coming back because of a great High Point Market experience,” says Scheffer.
