Michael S. Smith taps Konstantin Kakanias for fabric line
By Staff

Greek painter and illustrator Konstantin Kakanias will be creating a new collection of fabrics and wall coverings for Templeton in collaboration with interior designer and Templeton founder Michael S. Smith. The new line will feature colorful prints on cotton, linen and hemp, all inspired by Kakanias’ travels and past experiences in the art, fashion and design worlds.

Prints include florals, leaf motifs and stripes in a variety of textures, patterns and hues. One textile, Je t’aime, features a pattern of lipstick kisses based on a painting by Kakanias from almost two decades ago.

"The designs are very personal, perhaps even a bit eccentric," said Kakanias. "They capture the delight I felt at particular moments in my life discovering something beautiful and lyrical."

"Konstantin is like a magician—everything he touches comes alive with charm and beauty," said Smith. "The collection is really a marriage of his playful, cosmopolitan style and Templeton's expertise in making extraordinary fabrics."
