An India Hicks trunk show at Oomph; a live demonstration by artist Zackery Tyler at Putnam & Mason; and the launch of the new Christopher Spitzmiller collection at Circa Lighting: Fourteen different shops will participate in tomorrow’s Greenwich Design District Taste & Tour, which will bring together designers, architects and local businesses in Greenwich, Connecticut. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will comprise book signings, special art events, new product launches, designer appearances and other activities in each of the stores.
“There is always strength in numbers,” says Beth Dempsey, president of marketing and PR firm Images and Details, who developed the Taste & Tour concept. “The number of design-related businesses [in Greenwich] has grown exponentially, so the idea of forming a group makes good business sense for all involved. The design industry is an inclusive one, and they realize that a success for one is a success for all. Once we started talking to owners and managers about the creation of the GDD, they couldn’t wait to join.”
Shops include furniture and home goods stores as well as apparel, jewelry and other categories. Among the participants are Waterworks, Remains Lighting, Nanz Hardware, Hästens, Farrow & Ball, Oomph, ROOM, Lillian August and more.
The district’s goal, over the next year, is to become the “go-to design destination in Connecticut.”
