Industrial design company Kartell and Italian ready-to-wear label .normaluisa have announced a new collection of plastic ballerina shoes for Spring-Summer 2010 season using plastic, the symbolic material of Kartell.

The new 'Lady' collection features blunt toe sandals with 9cm-high wedges and platforms in pink, red, military green, cocoa, navy, black and two-tone combinations. The two-tone shades are obtained by a bi-injection process, which is the result of Kartell's know-how and expertise in the field of industrial technologies The wedge heel is smart and thin, and has a feminine shape with a star-shaped logo imprinted on the sole and heel.

"The collection of shoes produced by Kartell was created one year ago a bit like a game from an idea of trying to come up with completely see-through ballerina shoes that were sexy and chic at the same time," said Lorenza Luti, Kartell's marketing and retail director.

According .normaluisa designer Giorgiana Zappieri, "Inspiration for the design of Lady was drawn from the modern concept of 'easy chic,' which combines a smart and sophisticated image with the practicality of an accessory that is easy to wear everyday. With a simple click of her heels, a woman's dreams can come true, and any woman in her current sophistication becomes a real Lady."
