The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) named Edward Bottomley, Trudy Dujardin, Joan Kaufman, Jean Pinto and Patrick Schmidt its 2015 Fellows, the highest distinction a designer can receive from the organization.

“The designers selected for this honor are trailblazers in our industry and, through their contributions to our profession and their dedication to design, they each have made a far-reaching impact on the quality of our lives,” said Sonya Dufner, chair of the ASID Council of Fellows.”

Edward Bottomley

Edward Bottomley is one of the partners at CAMA, Inc., a New Haven, Conn. health design firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in the history of art and architecture from Yale University and has 30 years of experience designing interiors for health care, corporate, education, hospitality and residential environments. Bottomley has held past ASID leadership roles at the chapter and national levels, and has served the New Haven community in volunteer capacities, including as a board member with the New Haven Preservation Trust.

Trudy Dujardin

Trudy Dujardin’s firm, Dujardin Design Associates has offices in Westport, Conn. and Nantucket, Mass. Additionally, she is an adjuct professor at Fairfield (Conn.) University and frequently presents her seminar “Holistic House,” a discussion on building sustainable homes. In addition to recently publishing the book Comfort Zone: Creating the Eco-Elegant Interior, she is a LEED accredited professional specializing in interior design and construction. Dujardin is also co-founder of the Design Futures Council’s Architects Environment Summit and helped create the Nantucket Principles, guidelines for sustainable built environments, in 2002.

Joan Kaufman

Joan Kaufman is principal of Interior Planning & Design, Inc., Naperville, Illinois. The LEED accredited interior designer is also a certified feng shui practitioner and looks at design projects as a process of creating a total environment. An ASID member since 1985, she is a past president of the Illinois chapter, has earned a National Presidential Citation Award, and is currently a chair for the Illinois Interior Licensing Board.

Jean Pinto

Jean Pinto’s career in interior design has spanned more than half a century, and she joined the Woodbury University student chapter of the American Institute of Interior Designers (AID), a predecessor of ASID, while earning her bachelor’s degree in interior design. She has held leadership positions within the Los Angeles Chapter and as a national Foundation trustee. Pinto is an active volunteer with the Special Olympics and serves as a professional advisor at both Woodbury College, her alma mater, and Westwood College.

Patrick Schmidt

Patrick Schmidt is the senior interior designer at J. Baker Interiors LLC, in Carmel, Indiana, where he has worked for the past 29 years. The five-time recipient of the Golden Apple Award, the highest award granted to the president of the ASID Indiana Chapter to a member, has served ASID on both the chapter and national levels and is currently a member of the ASID Board of Directors. Additionally, he has earned recognition and honors for his years of varied volunteer work with and outside of ASID, including four National Presidential Citation Awards and a Distinguished Hoosier Award for volunteer service from former Indian Governor Mitch Daniels in 2006.

ASID will induct the new fellows on July 18 at Celebration: The ASID Awards Gala at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
