Designers join forces with Viyet to create vignettes for a cause
By Staff

Viyet, an online retailer of furniture, lighting, accessories and art curated by top design professionals, invited interior designers Jennifer Beek and Georgie Hambright of J+G Design, as well as designer Patrick Hamilton, to create vignettes to benefit a support community for those with HIV/AIDS.

The vignettes, which are made of luxury consignment finds, are now on display at the FLOR showroom in Soho. After three months of exhibition time they will be sold, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Housing Works, a healing community for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

A bit about the vignettes:

"We love using bold, dramatic patterns on the floor; it can totally transform a room,” said Beek of J+G Design’s vignette. The design-duo’s “Mad for Mod” vignette is inspired by the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. “We chose a graphic black, white and gray design; this palette is the perfect foundation for adding pops of color through bright furniture, art and accessories."

According to Hamilton, his vignette features a “modern organic studio feel"—heavy on texture and with emphasis on the natural. It’s a multi-functional room (eating, entertaining and sleeping) that mixes metals, woods, stone and ceramics. Hamilton “reused and recycled” for his space, creating a room with an earth-friendly footprint.

Viyet was launched in April 2013 to provide a full-service, white glove solution for the discreet buying and selling of pre-owned designer furnishings online.
