Design greats participate in Glass House lecture series

The Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, CT, is gearing up for its upcoming season of Conversations in Context, a lecture series which begins next month and runs through November.

With architectural backgrounds from around the globe, the list of speakers include Murray Moss and Francois de Menil, Annabelle Selldorf, Bjarke Ingels, James Welling, Peter Brant, Elizabeth Diller, and Peter Eisenman and Cynthia Davidson.

"Conversations in Context builds on the site's legacy of creative dialogue by welcoming leaders from different fields to interpret this rich, enigmatic place and explore ideas with the public," said Henry Urbach, director of the Glass House.

Along with the conversations, visitors will explore the Glass House compound during evening tours hosted by luminaries from the fields of architecture, design, and the arts.

Conversations in Context 2013 schedule:

May 2 - Murray Moss, founder, Moss + Francois de Menil, founder, FdM: Arch

June 6 - Elizabeth Diller, founding principal, Diller Scofidio + Renfro; professor of architecture, Princeton University

July 18 - Peter Eisenman, founder and principal, Eisenman Architects; Charles Gwathmey professor in practice, Yale School of Architecture, and Cynthia Davidson, founding editor, Log: Observations on Architecture and the Contemporary City

September 12 - Bjarke Ingels, founder, BIG Bjarke Ingels Group; honorary professor, Royal Academy of Arts, School of Architecture, Copenhagen

October 10 - James Welling, photographer; Area Head of Photography, UCLA

October 24 - Peter Brant, founder and president of The Brant Foundation, Inc.; chairman and CEO, White Birch Paper Company

November 7 - Annabelle Selldorf, principal, Selldorf Architects

Events take place from 5:30 to 8:00 pm on select Thursdays throughout the tour season, which runs from May 2 through November 30, 2013. Conversations in Context tickets ($150 per person) may be purchased online or via phone at 866-811-4111. Space is limited and advance reservations are highly recommended.
