The Architecture & Design Film Festival will return to New York City from October 13 to 18 at two new locations in Chelsea. The festival’s opening night will unfold at the SVA Theatre, while the rest of the festival will be held at the Bow Tie Chelsea Cinemas, a larger and newer location that was needed to accommodate this year’s project audience. The festival, now in its seventh year, will show both feature-length and short films as well as present panel discussions and Q&As with design leaders and filmmakers.

Some of the year’s highlights include an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lounge, where attendees can experience architecture and design in virtual reality; a world premiere of a short film competition sponsored by Henning Larsen Architects, one of Denmark’s biggest architecture firms; and a design-focused pop-up bookshop courtesy of Rizzoli. Another highlight: the October 7 Short Films Walk, which will feature a selection of short films and cocktails throughout SoHo design showrooms. All proceeds from the festival panel discussion tickets will be donated to 14+ Foundation, a U.S.-based charity devoted to designing and building schools and orphanages for African children in rural communities.
