Davler Media Group, which specializes in targeted, niche businesses in New York City, is the new proud owner of New York Spaces. The 10-year old magazine was previously owned by Wainscot Media.

Under the new ownership, editor-in-chief Jason Kontos and six other employees—three sales people, two editors and the creative director—will move to the Davler offices at 1440 Broadway.

Davler Media Group CEO David Miller is looking to expand and grow the digital and events arms of New York Spaces. He plans to introduce a journal for the Top 50 Designer Gala which will be distributed at the annual cocktail event for 900 design professionals, which will held September 18th.

"I think the New York market is coming this way, the economy is getting better, real estate is hot, and people are decorating and redecorating their homes," he said.

Miller will serve as publisher of New York Spaces for the time being, and currently holds that title for all Davler Media Group publications. Prior to the acquisition, the owners of Wainscot Media had been serving as publisher since Reed Foster left in December 2012.

In 2007, New York Spaces was merged with Hour Media's New York Home magazine and re-launched it as a 'new' New York Spaces with Kontos (from New York Home) at the helm. At the time, Davler Media Group had also put in a bid for New York Home, according to Miller.

Davler Media Group publications include Promenade, City Guide, NYMetroParents, the Bar/Bat Mitzvah Book, along with corresponding digital properties. It also owns and operates an events business, Celebrate. Davler's mission is to help New York Metropolitan-area residents and visitors make superior choices about how to spend their time and money.
