The design industry is awash with new and changing faces. Editor at Large is tracking who's coming and who's going. Below are a few changes of note.
Shax Riegler has been named executive editor of House Beautiful. Riegler was articles editor of Hearst Design Group since October 2012, and prior to that was features editor of House Beautiful since August 2010. Riegler continues to report to Newell Turner, editorial director, Hearst Design Group (ELLE DECOR, House Beautiful and VERANDA), who is also editor in chief of House Beautiful.
Dennis Scully has been named President of Avery Boardman, the luxury manufacturer of custom sleep sofas and hand crafted home furnishings for the design trade. In his new position Scully will oversee all marketing efforts, business development and Avery Boardman showrooms. He will also focus on new strategic partnerships and expanding the Avery Boardman presence throughout North America. Previously, Scully was VP of Business Development for Editor at Large.
Farrow & Ball has made the following internal promotions in North America: Anne Nelson, formerly VP Business Development, to Vice President Design Channel and Business Development; Ann Pailthorp, formerly the East Coast Regional Sales Manager, is now the Regional Sales Manager East Coast and Trade Marketing North America; and Christine Klotz Haney, formerly the Tri-State Regional Sales Manager, is now the Marketing Executive for North America.
Caroline Baumann has been named director of Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York, effective June 16. In this role, she will strengthen the museum’s mandate to educate, inspire and empower people through design and oversee the renovation of the museum and the reinstallation of its galleries, which are set to reopen in fall 2014. Since joining Cooper-Hewitt in 2001, she has held many leadership positions at the museum, most recently as acting director.
Max Humphrey has been promoted to Partner/Designer at Burnham Design. Humphrey will collaborate with Betsy Burnham, Principal Designer at Burnham Design, on all design projects as well as the Instant/Space division of the business.
Paloma Contreras, formerly the Director of Marketing at Visual Comfort & Co., has left to to launch Paloma Contreras Design, a full service interior design and brand consulting firm. She is also the Creative Director of her style blog, La Dolce Vita.
Jay Paschall has been named National Sales Manager at Century Furniture. He comes from Kindel Furniture, where he had been Vice President of Sales and Product Development responsible for the strategic direction of product, merchandising and company sales. At Century, Jay will be directly responsible for all national accounts and the management of Century’s residential sales professionals. He will also play an important role in the product direction and overall strategic growth of the company, which is under new leadership.
After ten years of working for Bruno Triplet brand as a managing director, Darius Jankauskas has decided to move on and change his career. He is starting a new consultancy company, called Tribeca Project.
Cate Drury, formerly the Assistant and Marketing Associate at Jerry Pair & Associates, has left to pursue her passion of becoming an interior designer. She will be replaced by Courtney Hardage, who will oversee marketing, advertising, social media, and communications for Jerry Pair and Jerry Pair Leather.
