Over the past few weeks, numerous design brands have completed major online overhauls—from building new features and easier navigation to rolling out e-commerce platforms and editorial sections. Here’s a look at what’s new from Lonny, Trad Home, Stylebeat, Go Design Go, Kelli Ellis, April Russell, Designer-Attache, LULU DK, Agostino Ltd, Chilewhich, the Design Trust for Public Space and nousDECOR.
Lonny has relaunched with a fresh new look—one that took a whopping five months to complete. The magazine has been completely reimagined in a format that takes full advantage of what the “new age of media” has to offer. According to Executive Editor Irene Edwards, “What we have created is something that is meant to tap into and feed off of all this learning. The new issue looks just as good (if not better) on mobile as it does on desktop. It is responsive and readable and searchable in so many ways that the old format could never even begin to address. The sense of motion is an important part of the equation—from video to animated type to the very act of scrolling from story to story. In the months to come, you'll see more of the features we dreamed up come to life.”
Trad Home, the online-only flip-book format magazine created by the editors at Traditional Home magazine, has upped its frequency to quarterly—one for each season. For the last few years it has been published semi-annually.
Just in time for spring Stylebeat Blog launched Stylebeat 2.0, the first redesign of this interior design and lifestyle blog since its origination in 2007. The new website features a clean design and easy-to-read layout, now with much larger photos and more focused navigation topics.
Go Design Go, the blog that covers news and events happening within the Cohen Design Centers—the Decoration & Design Building (NYC), the Pacific Design Center (Los Angeles), Design Center of the Americas (South Florida) and the Decorative Center Houston—has gotten a fresh color makeover. The new blog design features a clean look and is easier to navigate.
While going through an entire rebrand of her business, interior designer Kelli Ellis created an all new website that focuses on her new role as a “lifestyle designer.” Aside from her interior design work, Ellis has written a book and expanded her Interior Design Camp this year, and the new website reflects all of it.
New York and London-based interior designer April Russell launched a newly redesigned website which focuses on the “art” of her interiors. The website design features new colors, more of Russell’s residential projects and property development, as well as items from her bespoke shop.
In conjunction with its two-year anniversary, Designer-Attache has revamped its website to feature service descriptions, new client testimonials, a page for design assistants to apply and work as freelancers, and new images that display its aesthetic and vignettes of how the company works. Finally, the site is more interactive and features better readability.
LULU DK has launched its first e-commerce retail store, expanding the fabric company into a lifestyle brand. The shop is filled with items designed and curated by founder Lulu deKwiatkowski including pillows, lampshades and other products for the home, framed prints of her artwork, stationary, decals, one-of-a-kind scarves and textiles.
Agostino Ltd. has launched a new website with multiple new features including real time stock check, real time ordering, a more effective product search, an online payment option and the ability to view open orders. Over the next few months, the website will embody more changes including trade registration and designer net pricing, as well as new functionality and additional product.
Chilewich has launched a redesigned website keeping in mind its brand identity and aesthetic while giving the user enhanced features. In collaboration with VSA Partners, Chilewich created a more “editorial” look and feel, showcasing larger, more vivid images that demonstrate the originality of its products. Additionally, the site includes inspiration and curated collections in the “What’s New” and “Color Stories” sections, as well as a portfolio of Chilewich designs.
The Design Trust for Public Space, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the future of public space in New York City, recently launched a new, interactive, multimedia website to be an effective tool for cities, citizens and organizations worldwide interested in initiating change in their communities. The website features a comprehensive database of Design Trust projects, an areas of impact map, various case studies and a publications library.
Today, nousDECOR has launched a weekly series of behind-the-scenes video home tours with Mark Cutler, the site's Chief Designer and the principal of Mark Cutler Design. In the videos, Cutler tours recently finished homes he's done and share insights on how to get a similar look using DIY and other easy design techniques.
